In this project we worked to worked to preserve the detailed Arts and Crafts style of this spacious primary bath, while giving it some new features, and a modern elegance. To accomplish this we started by tearing out the dated floor tile, shower, built in elevated tub, casings, 1990's era glass cube wall, and preserved the timeless elements like the custom built mahogany and maple vanities. We then added electric radiant floor heat, new soapstone tile, modern interior glass fixtures, a steam shower, and freestanding tub among other new features. Next, our team recreated the elegant casing profiles found throughout the Craftsman style house, and finished the new bathroom space with them to achieve a cohesive feeling walking from the primary bedroom into the bathroom. Lastly, we used a soft earthy color palette and beautiful natural wood fixtures to give this new bathroom authentic Craftsman warmth. All these elements came together to make a space that will serve as a calming, clean, and beautiful space to begin and end the day.
Recently we renovated a beautiful craftsman style home in Charlotte, VT for owners interested in restoring and improving the home's unique charm. We worked to update and revitalize on a number of aspects on the home including flooring, custom built shelving, cabinetry, windows, doors, bathrooms, stone patios, door hoods, and more. The authentic craftsman style of the house presented unique opportunities to replicate and add on to the beautiful carpentry details that were original to the house. We were able to enhance these details with new windows, doors, shelving, and structures that stayed true to the character of the house. We were also able to replace old carpet, stone, and tile with more modern materials and installation methods that will ensure enduring quality and craftsmanship throughout the home for years to come. Good communication, talented subcontractors, and quality construction made this exciting project a success.
In this project we replaced a 4 wide wood stationary storm door assembly that had rotted out, with a new 4 wide sliding French door. Upon removing the original rotted storm doors, we uncovered rotted flooring, structural posts, and sheathing. After careful inspection, we were able to remedy each of these. In the end, we were able to provide a new sliding door that fits with the existing space, allows more light, a warm natural wood interior, and durable composite exterior. This new door will allow for better living and use of the space for years to come.
In this project we updated the original interior doors and casing of a 1980's condominium, to a more sturdy pine and mdf door to reflect the owner's appreciation of quality and architectural detail. We replaced the home's original existing flush hollow core birch doors, with new Brosco 5 panel painted pine and mdf doors. In addition, we installed a more detailed casing pattern on the first floor, and new antique style door knobs to give each door a more elegant look.
In this project we worked to reinforce the structure of the 2nd floor on a historic early 1800's farmhouse in South Hero. Once "livable", the home's second story had fallen into disrepair. With new owners interested in using the space upstairs again, we began work to bring this half of the house back to life. By examining the health of the existing structure, we developed a plan, in partnership with a local engineer, to reinforce the existing roof and floor systems, while preserving as much of the existing character and space of the home.
The scope of work included leveling and strengthening floors across the entire span of the building, adding new rafters and collar ties to reinforce the roof, framing new interior walls, and installing new windows and skylights throughout the second floor. In the pictures you'll see new Marvin Elevate windows, new engineered floor framing, new walls, and new rafters all installed with meticulous detail to ensure a sound structure for the rest of the interior finishes to be installed on.
